The Honda EU22i and EU32i are two of Honda’s most popular portable inverter generators. Both produce clean, stable electricity, both feature Honda’s fuel-saving Eco Throttle system, and both are enclosed in compact, noise-reducing cases.
However, they are designed for slightly different users.
The Honda EU22i is the lighter and more affordable choice. Its portability makes it particularly well suited to camping, caravanning, mobile repairs and lighter trade work.
The Honda EU32i provides considerably more power while remaining portable. It also introduces fuel injection and Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, making it attractive to professional users, mobile businesses and anyone running a larger collection of equipment.
This Honda EU22i vs EU32i comparison examines the differences that matter when choosing between them.

Specifications should always be checked before purchase, as manufacturers may update individual models.
The biggest difference is usable power
The most important difference is not the model number or maximum output. It is the amount of power each generator can provide continuously.
The EU22i has:
The EU32i has:
That gives the EU32i approximately 44% more rated power than the EU22i.
Maximum output is intended to accommodate short peaks in demand. When deciding which generator you need, the rated output should normally be used for equipment that will operate continuously.
Starting current must also be considered. Equipment containing motors or compressors—including refrigerators, pumps, air-conditioning units and many power tools—can demand substantially more electricity when starting than during normal operation.
If your total continuous load is comfortably below 1,800W, the EU22i may be all you need. If your equipment approaches that limit, or includes a motor with a high starting demand, the additional capacity of the EU32i provides more useful headroom.
The EU22i is a compact generator intended for portable, relatively modest loads. Depending on the individual appliance ratings, it can be a good choice for:
Its inverter output makes it suitable for sensitive electronic equipment. Unlike a basic conventional generator, an inverter generator regulates its output electronically to provide stable electricity for devices such as laptops, televisions and communications equipment.
However, 2,200W is the EU22i’s short-term maximum—not its continuous working target. A high-wattage kettle, heater or cooking appliance can consume much of its available output by itself.
Always check the rating plate of every appliance and allow for starting current before connecting it.
The EU32i is designed for users who need more output without moving to a much larger wheeled generator. Its 2,600W rated output makes it better suited to:
The extra 800W of continuous capacity can make a significant difference when several appliances need to operate together.
It does not mean that every combination of equipment below 2,600W will automatically work. Starting current, power factor and the way loads are added can all affect generator performance. Where equipment is critical or its electrical demand is uncertain, speak to Generator Warehouse before selecting a model.
Both models have enclosed, noise-reducing cases and Eco Throttle, but the EU22i has the lower official sound-power figure:
These sound-power figures should not be confused with sound-pressure readings taken from a specified distance. Noise figures are only directly comparable when they use the same measurement method.
In practical terms, the EU22i is the better option where minimum noise and a smaller load are the priorities. The EU32i remains a quiet generator for its output class, but its larger engine and greater power capacity produce a slightly higher official sound figure.
Generator position, surrounding surfaces, distance and electrical load will all affect the noise experienced by nearby people.
The EU22i is the more economical choice where its 1,800W rated output is sufficient. Paying for capacity that will never be used provides little practical benefit, and the smaller model is easier to carry and store.
The EU32i costs more, but the additional price buys:
The EU32i offers better value when its additional capability prevents overloads or eliminates the need to move up to a much heavier generator. For lighter leisure use, the EU22i is likely to be the more cost-effective purchase.
Choose the Honda EU22i if:
Choose the Honda EU32i if:
For most light leisure applications, the EU22i is the more practical choice. For professional work, larger combined loads or applications requiring more starting capacity, the EU32i is the stronger all-round generator.
The correct choice depends on what you intend to power, which appliances may start simultaneously and how frequently the generator will be moved.
